There are two scholarships in the amount of $200 each for members of the Concert Orchestra (7th and 8th grade musicians). One scholarship will be awarded to a Cario student and one to a Laing student. Scholarship money must be applied to orchestra fees (for the present or next school year), field trips, or summer music study.
If a student is interested in applying for either of these scholarships, they must meet the following criteria:
· Submit a letter to Ms. Heine no later than November 2 expressing interest in seeking one of the scholarships.
· Pay the annual fee of $100.
· Participate in the annual cookie dough and pizza fundraiser.
· Participate in extra activities to earn merit points. A scholarship recipient must be among the top ten merit point earners for their school.
· Attend 100% of all orchestra functions and rehearsals.
· Demonstrate exemplary behavior and leadership.
Scholarship recipients will be announced at the December concert.
SC Federation of Music Clubs will offer music camp scholarships at Furman and Bob Jones Univ.and Brevard Music center.

Music Scholarships
Students may apply for ONE of these three scholarships:
$2,000 College Scholarship Awards
Offered to: Graduating high school seniors who plan to major in music or music education in college.
Requirements: Application with a minimum GPA of 2.5, SAT score of 1000 (not including the Writing score) or ACT of 21, letters of recommendation, and a successful audition
Number offered: Up to four scholarships.
Application deadline: All information must be postmarked by January 31, 2011.
Audition: The auditions will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Charleston County School of the Arts, 5109 W. Enterprise Street, North Charleston.
Matching Grant Awards
The CSOL offers $250 per semester ($500 total), matched by the parent or guardian, for private music study.
Offered to: Members of the Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry.
Requirements: YOLow member, application, and successful audition.
Number offered: Up to five scholarships
Application deadline: Must be postmarked by January 31, 2011.
Audition: Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Charleston County School of the Arts, 5109 W. Enterprise Street, North Charleston.
Summer Study Awards
Offered to: Tri-county music students, 5th grade or older.
Requirements: Application, involvement in current musical study, successful audition, and proof of summer study plans.
Number offered: As funds allow.
Application deadline: Must be postmarked by January 31
Audition: Saturday, March 26, 2011,at the Charleston County School of the Arts, 5109 W. Enterprise Street, North Charleston.
All audition space is provided as a courtesy by the Charleston County School of the Arts.
